Mark, Hex Hive 2.0 Creator

In early 2019 I saw a social media post showing a craft paint organizer made out of PVC pipe. I thought it was a great idea so I made a video showing how to make it. I decided to offer some for sale as some might want it but not be comfortable using the tools required to make it. They sold like hotcakes!  

As I cut down PVC and glued the pieces together I thought, “how can I make a storage organizer that could be assembled by the customer with no tools and no adhesives”?  

Through good fortune, amazing people and the desire to make something that could help others, the first prototype of Hex Hive was made on my 3D printer in the summer of 2019.  

Once a design was completed, the difficult task of finding a U.S.A. manufacturer began and it was not easy. Time and time I made a call and spoke to someone that said it would be “no problem”. They told me to email the file over so they can quote me a price for the tooling. The next day I would get the same bad news over and over, “we can’t make it, it’s too challenging of a profile”.  

I was going to call every manufacturer in the country if I had to. Thankfully it did not come to that. I found a company that gave me the best news I had heard, “we THINK we can make it”. They were not 100% sure as this was unlike anything they had done before.  

They gave me a quote for the cost of the tooling and let me know there was no guarantee it would work but they felt like there was a good chance. I did my research on the company and spoke to them quite a bit and then it came down to a leap of faith, do I take the chance?  

The tooling was very expensive I am a person of limited means so it was a very difficult and scary decision. Since I am writing this “About Me” section on my website, it lets you know I made my leap of faith and my prayers were answered, it worked!  

Hex Hive has been available for almost 3 years now and I have listened to what customers have said. Thankfully, most is great stuff but there were a few things that I felt could be improved from what I read. I am not one to settle on “good enough”.  

Now here we are with Hex Hive 2.0, it is truly “organization evolved”! I hope you make it your storage organization solution. I know I have! 😃❤️
